James Joyce consecrated the bread of everyday life into art.
Joyce elevated the ordinary to the mythic, and the mythic to the ordinary.
He  devised Ulysses so that each episode would have its own symbols, its own style, and its own set of correspondences to the ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey, by Homer.

05-bloomsdayUlysses has attracted controversy and fascination, and the book is considered to be one of the most important works of the twentieth century.
Joyce fans worldwide now celebrate 16 June as Bloomsday.

An ILLUSTRATED Talk- Dr. Séamus CANNON teaches a very popular course, “Reading ULYSSES, “ at Blackrock Education Centre. He is the Vice Chair of the Friends of Joyce Tower Society.
